ECAP makes principle investments from its own balance sheet in a small number of focused situations. In investments ECAP partners with management to develop new business opportunities, provide growth capital and create value. An overview of some of our main investments is outlined below:

Global Oil Shale Ltd

Global Oil Shale (GOS) aims to become a leading company in the global oil shale sector, with a focus on ownership of oil shale resources as well as new processing technologies. GOS targets at delivering secure and an environmentally sustainable supply of hydrocarbons through the development of Oil Shale deposits. Estimates put global deposits of oil shale in the region of 3 trillion barrels of recoverable oil, with deposits geographically correlated with demand for hydrocarbons. The largest deposits are located in the USA while shale oil has been produced historically from deposits in Brazil, Europe and China.

Founded by a team with over 50 years experience in mining, hydrocarbons and Oil Shale refining, Global Oil Shale benefits from a team a unique knowledge of the area. Through the application of new technologies and enhanced value engineering, Global Oil Shale aims to re-establish oil shale as a key part of the solution to the growing pressure on energy supply chains. GOS has secured a number of high priority projects internationally and is in the process of developing these assets in cooperation with local partners. Through its GOS Development Centre research group, based in Estonia, Global Oil Shale is addressing technical milestones critical to the wider commercialisation of Oil Shale.

ECAP Markets is a FSA regulated and London based financial services company established in 2000, specialised on equity capital markets services for energy and resources companies especially for London Stock Exchange, AIM as well as TSX and ASX listed companies. Since establishment, as Equest Partners, the company has participated and managed approximately £ 500 million in capital raisings for some 15 oil & gas and mining companies as well as specialised investment companies.
